Curig Generations

In common with virtually every other Corgi breeder in the world, we all started out with this amazing breed as pets. For Barbara, this came in the form of Yogi Bear (Can CH Curig King of Ivywin), who was a gift from Barbara’s father to her mother, the late Bernice Beilby, in 1972. Barbara and Bernice were so captivated by Yogi’s intelligence and beauty, that they immediately expanded their Corgi family to include Curig Queen of Ivywin (affectionately known as Boo). With these two, the family’s first purebred dogs, Barbara and Bernice launched right into showing and breeding, and never looked back. Boo produced the first Curig litter, and the first Canadian champion bearing the Curig kennel name—Ch Curig Contender. That same year Juliana was born.  Barbara and Bernice, realizing that they needed to improve their bloodlines, purchased Penbrock Elen, a quality tri-colour bitch, from Jean Cobb of Penbrock kennels in Manitoba. Elen was subsequently bred to Joan and Bill Kennedy’s Can CH Donna’s Pride of Willoan, giving them Can Ch Curig Dylinger and the foundation of our present day pembroke family.
