Colour in the PWC

Allowable colours are clearly defined in the standard. Red, sable, fawn, black & tan, all with or without white markings. There is no color preference in this breed.

There are NO other accepted colours within the standard - Blue Merle and Brindle do not exist in the purebred PWC. It is genetically impossible. If a dog is either of these colours they are not purebred. Beware of anyone purposely cross breeding and breeding for colour only. Beware of anyone purposly breeding bluies (dilutes), fluffies and mismarks. Other important issues tend to be forgotten when breeding for only one thing. Health testing, mental and structural soundness, pedigree reseach and advancing the health and quality of the breed is of the utmost importance.
